Clann schemes in Kerry – Taobh Linn in Kenmare, Holy Cross Gardens, Oakwood and Coill na Darach in Killarney – recently took part in the ‘Video Reminiscence Project’. The project aims to raise awareness of the rich and vibrant lives of our residents and to change the perceptions of people living in social housing. The project involved residents taking part in an information day, a workshop event and a video recording session on their schemes. The end product was that each resident that took part had a 10 to 15-minute video of their life story and a framed portrait.

On October 24th, we had a launch event to showcase all the videos in the Community Room of Coill na Darach in Killarney. The event was attended by residents, their families, Clann Housing staff and Clúid CEO Brian O’Gorman. The launch event was a fabulous occasion, and it was great to be able to hear about the amazing life stories of our residents. Each resident’s story was so different, and we learned things that we never knew about their remarkable lives.

Clann Housing hopes to run these events in other locations next year and if any residents would like their scheme to take part, please speak to your Scheme Manager.
