Improving accessibility with an assistive toolbar – Recite Me
Clann, through the Quality in our Diversity group, has been working with residents to find ways to provide a more inclusive user experience on clannhousing.ie. These website improvements will allow users who may have additional requirements to have a better, more accessible user experience.
We have partnered with Recite Me, an organisation that specialises in digital accessibility, to include a range of on-demand accessibility tools that align with WCAG standards, ensuring that the site is user-friendly for people with disabilities, situational challenges, and language support, through a customisable toolbar.
What is it
In today’s world, we expect to be able to do everything online, from booking repairs to paying rent. Every website user deserves an inclusive online experience that allows them to navigate and use the website. The accessibility toolbar allows everyone the opportunity to use the internet in the way that it is intended.
WHAT DOES IT DO
to create a fully customisable experience.
Translation
Quickly and easily translate clannhousing.ie into over 100 languages, including 35 text-to-speech voices. Including the Irish language.
Screen Reader
The screen reader will help visitors to perceive and understand clannhousing.ie by reading aloud website text, which can be customised to suit the user.
Reading
To simplify use and support website visitors, the toolbar provides five main tools; ruler, screen mask, magnifier, margins, and a dictionary.
Styling
Change the way a website looks. Users can customise the website’s colour scheme as well as the text, font style, size, colour, and spacing.
