The Coach House is one of Clann’s newest schemes, consisting of forty two-bedroom apartments. The apartment block is right in the centre of Portlaoise making it an ideal location for residents that do not drive or who have mobility issues. The scheme is fully occupied, and the residents have come together and set up The Coach House Residents Committee. The Residents Committee members are very hands-on – they have organised and participated in events such as stay-connected classes collaborating with Laois ETB, Fitstick classes with Laois Public Participation, and a get-together to cheer on Ireland in the Rugby World Cup, to name but a few. The Coach House has been nominated by Laois County Council for a community award, under the social inclusion category. The Residents Committee has shown a great example of how to develop a community and get to know your neighbours.
