Residents of Clann who choose to challenge
International Women’s Day takes place each year on March 8th, this year’s theme is choose to challenge.
The past 12 months have been some of the most challenging times of recent history. Clann’s vision is a society where everyone has a great place to live, and with that in mind, the team have worked with residents to bring them together over the past year through the Clann Residents Advisory Group (CRAG). CRAG was established last year and is made up of a diverse range of people from across the Clann resident body. Helen Ashton, a prominent member of CRAG, is someone that has “chosen to challenge” in order to build an inclusive, sustainable, and diverse community.
Helen tells us “I became a resident of Clann in February 2017 and have a beautiful home which I am very proud of.”
“In 2020 I became a member of CRAG – a tenants advisory group established by Mike Mooney. The aim of the group is to create a partnership between both Clann as an organisation and residents of Clann homes throughout the country, to come up with solutions to improve the organisation for all residents. I became a member of this group, because as a member I felt I could help make these changes.”
Pictured is Helen with her mother who has sadly passed away. Helen says “My mother would be so proud of me being part of CRAG and taking such a risk for others.”
Clann aims to achieve our vision of a society where everyone has a great place to live by providing high-quality housing and services that enable people to create homes and thriving communities. Helen and all the members of CRAG are working hard alongside Clann in order to deliver this vision for all residents.
