In the coming weeks, as an additional security measure for online payments, you may be asked to validate your online rent payment. This additional security comes as a result of new EU regulations to protect customers against fraudulent online transactions. There are two options which you may be presented with as part of the online rent payment form,
By text. Your bank may send you a text message and you will be asked to enter a pin number to approve your online rent payment
Mobile bank app. You may be requested to login to your personal banking mobile app to approve the transaction, confirming your rent payment is a valid payment
If you are experiencing any difficulty with your online rent payment, please call our Customer Contact Centre on 01 707 2244.

Payment Services Directive II will come into effect on Jan 1st 2021. Payment Services Directive II (PSD2) revises the first Payment Services Directive, regulating all payment services across the European Union (EU). This revised directive introduced Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) – a set of new requirements for authenticating online payments expected to become enforceable at the end of 2020.
3D Secure V2 is compliant with EU “Strong Customer Authentication” mandates. 3D Secure 2 allows businesses and their payment provider to send more data elements on each transaction to the cardholder’s bank. This includes payment-specific data like the shipping address, as well as contextual data.
If you regularly buy items online, you may be familiar with the 3D Secure V1 flow: you enter your card details to confirm payment and are then redirected to another page where your bank asks you for a code or password to approve the purchase. Most customers are often more familiar with branded names for 3D Secure, such as Visa Secure or Mastercard Identity Check.
