Environmental research survey results
Clann, as a division of Clúid, along with the other Approved Housing Bodies in the Housing Alliance, commissioned some research last year exploring the area of innovative solutions to advancing net-zero carbon in the residential built environment.
As part of this project, which was co-funded by the Housing Alliance and the Housing Agency, the research consultants carried out a survey of approx. 3,000 residents of the Housing Alliance members – with approx. 550 responses from Clúid residents.
Before we look at the results, we’d like to congratulate Lisa Ging, Portlaoise and Natalie Griffin, Dundalk who each won a €100 All 4 One Voucher each for completing the survey.
We’d like to share some of the insights from the Clúid survey and to thank all of the residents who took part in it. Surveys are important for us to understand what’s a priority for our residents.
– 99% regard energy efficient homes as important
– 92% are separating their rubbish and using recycling facilities
– 88% think they have the potential to reduce the electricity they’re using in their home
– 84% are concerned about climate change

– 11% are growing or producing their own food, and 25% plan to.
When it comes to reasons for having an energy efficient home, our residents highlighted; cost savings (33%), concern for the environment / the right thing to do (30%), quality of life (20%), and improved air quality (16%). 88% of respondents say that they could reduce the amount of electricity they use in their home.
